Deborah Durham is the president and founder of SPOKESPERSONS PLUS NETWORK LLC.
An early casualty of downsizing in the home sewing business, Deb single-handedly pioneered the consumer spokesperson industry in 1974.*
Recognizing companies’ needs for 3rd party spokespeople, she began to offer her home economics know-how as a lifestyle expert. Deb developed innovative ways to create awareness for such diverse brands as Rit Dye, Chex Party Mix, HandiWipes, Ethan Allen and S.C. Johnson Off! Citronella Candle to name a few.
She’s appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Live with Regis & Kathie Lee, The Home Show, HGTV, Lifetime Network, The Discovery Channel and PBS as well as on hundreds of local market shows nationwide launching new consumer products.
In the late eighties, Deborah recognized an opportunity to provide greater service and to build the business. She polled key public relations and marketing professionals about their consumer spokesperson needs. Positive feedback confirmed the demand for a range of expert spokespeople on a variety of topics. To fill that niche, in January 1989 SPOKESPERSONS PLUS NETWORK LLC made its debut in New York City.
The ’PLUS’ in SPN, Deb attributes her success to her experience both in front of and behind the camera. She works with clients finding out their particular needs in order to deliver pre-qualified experts who are media-savvy team players, many with whom Deb has established ongoing relationships since 1974.
Today, SPOKESPERSONS PLUS NETWORK LLC is the nation’s leading spokesperson broker with a roster of hundreds of spokespersons providing expertise on virtually any consumer topic.
Deb Durham holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University’s School of Consumer & Family Sciences. She currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she can be spotted driving her roadster around the Rio Grande basin or researching the most sophisticated information for creating her modern off-the-grid dream home.
*Please humor her when she tells you she started the business when she was only 8.
